About

Common Ground

Common Ground is a project that unites the Swedish Institutes in Athens, Is-tanbul and Rome in the creation of a joint digital platform for Swedish archae-ological research in the Mediterranean. Through intensive inventory and regis-tration work, material from Swedish archaeological projects in Greece, Italy and Turkey, including finds and significant documentation (diaries, plans, etc.) from the important excavations in Asea and Kalaureia (Greece), Ac-quarossa and San Giovenale (Italy), and Labraunda (Turkey), are made available to the international scholarly community.

Searches by chronology, material category and provenance provides information about size, state of preservation, location and availability of a given mate-rial and its documentation, thus easing scholarly work considerably wherever worldwide the user is located. The Common Ground Platform is open to schol-ars as well as to the general public. The project was initiated in 2019 and is financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
